On 25 March 2015 the Prime Minister of the Saarland Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer
awarded the State Prize for University Teaching to our member professor Martha Meyer for the project “Nurse Aid Training” in the Phaung Daw Oo Monastic High School in Mandalay (PDO). Ms Kramp-Karrenbauer:”In this project development aid is embedded exemplarily in university teaching”.
In autumn 2013 six students of the University of Applied Studies (htwsaar) performed, within the framework of their internship, a 12-week course with 200 teaching hours for the nurses in the school clinic of PDO. For the first time the nurses followed a systematic and comprehensive training in order to consolidate or improve their theoretical and practical knowledge and skills. After the successfully completed training the nurses were awarded the official certificate of the Institute of Scientific Further Education of htwsaar.
Particularly emphasized was the role of Foerderverein Myanmar by supporting the students during their stay in PDO and ensuring safe structures for them.
We from the Foerderverein are very pleased about this award and sincerely congratulate Marthe Meyer and her students.
In autumn 2015 a new group of htwsaar will arrive in Mandalay for training the nurses of PDO school clinic.
